After having a go for the extreme longdistance for a few years with some super results, the lofts of Herman Beverdam now in 2007 had a new make over for the normal races. The extreme distance birds have been cut down to a 20 pairs for racing and the empty lofts are now used for YB racing the HERMAN BEVERDAMS.

Looking at some results 2004 1^st National Bourges NPO , the 2^nd National did join the winner for stock being from same bloodlines.

2005 the 1^st and 2^nd National Winner NPO Bourges of 2005 were retired for stock. The 2nd National NPO Winner Bourges, also 3rd NATIONAL FONDSPIEGEL DAGFOND 2005 !

2006 CHAMPION AMAZIN NL03-1891129, with his 4 first ( 1^st 15.800 birds combine as well and 3 more with 10 minutes in advance ) becomes 1^st ACE PIGEON KRING 1 afd. 9 !

The NATIONAL CHAMPION ACE PIGEON MIDDLE DISTANCE NPO 2006 “MAGICO” NL04-2198731, joins AMAZIN in the stockloft being his cousin ! ( Both grandchildren of WOUNDED KNEE SCHAERLAECKENS ).

The parents of KOPER LADY, NL05-1239910, NATIONAL ACE HEN OF HOLLAND WHZB 2006, winner of 7x FIRST, also came to the Herman Beverdam Stud as they were bred from Herman Beverdam stock !

One has to keep in mind that on the shorter races with such high numbers of birds the wind sometimes is making the results. But in 2007 even in bad position for wind direction the youngsters have done fantastic so far and with 1 more National NPO to come the HERMAN BEVERDAMS WILL HAVE A GO AT IT for sure !

We are talking about the winning blue cock “BLUE BANGE 162”, NL02-1088162, a magnificent star of HERMAN BEVERDAM beating the total entry of 6.170 birds !

Who has been in racing pigeons for a while, knows that we are talking about a setlled name in pigeon sport in The Netherlands and far beyond. About 25 years ago Herman decided to make his hobby his work and now his name (fame) is “all over the world” , like the world wide web. Herman Beverdam has spread his wings far, further than a pigeon can reach. From China to Mexico en from England to Australia: the name HERMAN BEVERDAM has become a household name in pigeonsport world wide. Regulary fanciers are visiting from all four winddirections the lofts in Enter. One of the conditions to be succesfull as a professional is knowing “how to race sucesfully” and that did Herman prove through the years. Herman was and is still one of the known champions in this area. The magnificent win from BOURGES does not stand on its own. In this case it is a BLUE COCK raced as a widower named “BLUE BANGE 162”, because in his pedigree one can find te direct lines going back to JANSSEN BROTHERS SUPERSTAR, the famous BANGE 51! As you know BANGE means being afraid and this cock acts like his ancestor always on the far side and making the noise letting you know that please don’t come near to me when you approach him. It was not the first win of this perfect handling strong cock. In 2003 he was the winner of HEVERLEE against 1.290 birds in the Enter federation, when he and his nest-brother took the FIRST TWO places in that race !! "SANDOKAN", 2ND NATIONAL NPO BOURGES 2004 HAS JOINED THE FIRST NATIONAL IN HERMAN BEVERDAMS STOCKLOFT !!

A very important fact is that the birds are free from “coccidiosis” and “trichomonas”, to be able to condition the favorites. Herman treats his birds before the start of the season against these two diseases and during the racing season he treats the pigeons when they return from a race again, nearly every week. Hermans feeding methods are very simple. He uses the VERSELE LAGA mixture Pan1 and Pan2. It is basicly the “JANSSEN BROTHERS FORMULA” that was given by Charles Janssen to Herman on a visit and that was commercially mixed by Versele Laga. Pan1 stands for to feed in the morning and is more “heavier” , in the daytime the pigeons are more active and will need more energy, than the Pan2 for the evening, which is a lighter mix, easier to digest while resting in the night and not being able to drink additionally water. The pigeons are fed in a tray on the floor together and there is ofcourse competition while feeding. Herman gives them time to look for what they will need and after 5 minutes at the start of the week takes away what has been left over by the pigeons. Towards the day of basketing Herman increases the time to each feeding, so they can really fill themselves up with what they think is best for them. This way only the pigeon can make a mistake and Herman can select the birds on them making mistakes and not Herman. The lofts of the widowers are small and cosy, definitely not overcrowded, many nestboxes are emtpy. A hygrostat controlls the humidity in the lofts and thats all there is.

Herman had a good season , his birds won the MIDDLE DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIP 2004 NOMINATED CLUB, FEDERATION. He also has the MIDDLE DISTANCE ACE PIGEON 2004 in his loft and topped the cake with a FIRST NATIONAL N.P.O. AFD. 9 BOURGES, what more do you want? This in a so called “sabatical year”, where Herman wanted to take it easy to make the big changes for future racing. End of 2003 many of his sprinters have been sold, older superstars were retired into the stockloft. His aim in future will be the NPO Nationals , races from 400km to 700km day-longdistance and……………the NATIONALS on the LONG DISTANCE from 850 to 1250 BARCELONA ! Knowing Herman and his skills it won’t take him long to make the competition feel desperate again.
